Details of the original alert: The South African Weather Service (Saws) has confirmed a short-lived tornado observed around the Germiston area, in the East Rand region of Gauteng, on Thursday afternoon.<br />"Saws teams will conduct an on-site damage assessment to determine its intensity," the weather forecaster said.<br />More information will be released once the team's assessment is finalised.<br />Earlier, Saws reported on developing thundershowers in parts of the country. A Yellow Level 1 warning for severe thunderstorms was also issued.
