Details of the original alert: At 637 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over River Ridge, or over Metairie, moving northeast at 25 mph. HAZARD: Tornado. SOURCE: Radar indicated rotation. IMPACT: Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely. Locations impacted include. Avondale, Metairie, Jefferson, Harahan, Westwego, Elmwood, Waggaman, Bridge City, River Ridge, Ama, and New Orleans Armstrong Airport. This includes Interstate 10 in Louisiana between mile markers 222 and 225.
